People have found many uses and health benefits of baking soda which is also known as bicarbonate of soda and doctors have approved and recommended them as fit for usage. Baking soda alone has a wide variety of uses from deodorizing to skin exfoliation. However, drinking baking soda and water has multiple health benefits. Baking soda is a natural antacid therefore consuming it neutralizes stomach acids. When making this solution, make sure you use baking soda and not baking powder since many people confuse the two. Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate but baking powder has other ingredients added to it. Here are some health benefits of drinking baking soda with water.
Number one, it aids in detoxification. After a while, depending on the food we eat and the environment we are exposed to, our bodies start to build up heavy metals and other toxins. Sometimes the body needs help in removing these toxins. Drinking baking soda with water removes the heavy metals and other toxic substances so that your body can operate optimally.
Number two, it helps with indigestion. Baking soda can relieve or prevent indigestion. To take care of indigestion, take a teaspoon of baking soda with two cups of water about an hour after eating.
Number three, it improves kidney functions. When kidneys are not working at their optimal level, it can be hard for them to remove acidic waste from the body. Baking soda is known to buffer acid and balance pH levels so it can help the kidneys remove unwanted acids in the body.
Number four, it enhances workout. If you would like to work out for a longer period, it is recommended that you drink baking soda with water prior to your exercises. People experience fatigue and soreness in their muscles after working out because of the production of lactic acid. Baking soda is known to absorb this acid therefore reducing fatigue and soreness.
Number five, it helps with insect bites. As with itchy skin, applying the baking soda paste immediately reduces the itching. It may also prevent infection due to its antiseptic properties.
Number six, it helps with teeth whitening. Baking soda is a common ingredient in toothpaste due to its ability to remove plaque. Using baking soda by itself can wear off enamel on the teeth. However, by making a solution or paste by adding water can be good for dental health. You can either sprinkle baking soda on top of your toothpaste before brushing your teeth or gaggle with the solution.
Number seven, it helps with infections. Baking soda is a mild antiseptic. This means it can fight off all infections in the body. If you have an infection anywhere in your body, try drinking a glass of baking soda water each day for a few days.
Number eight, it freshens breath. Baking soda can get rid of the odors in your breath. Just take some baking soda and water and swish it around in your mouth for a minute. Soon enough, your breath will be quite fresh.
